Angel quotes and review of sensational book series Embers (Wings of War) and Gaia (Wings of War 2)

Good morning fellow angels of the blogosphere!
Have you ever thought, "Wow, this one is special, I must have it in hardcover" even before you could get through the first book in the series?

I recently finished reading the second book in a sensational series by Karen Ann Hopkins called The Wings of War.

I just finished book 2, GAIA, and all I can say is it's really gorgeous....not just the cover, but the story is amazing!

And if you love angels as much as I do, than buckle up for a thrill ride full of romance, drama, and action packed saga that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

I love the author Karen's way of drawing you into her sizzling story-line before you know what's happening. It starts a bit slow, but inevitably seduces you into reading the entire thing in a short span of time.  Embers Wings of War Book 1 didn't grab me from the first paragraph, but by the end of the first chapter, I was left simmering in contemplation about Ember's Guardian Angel's (Eae's) portentous narrative he passed on to the priest to warn Ember of the impending Apocalypse and that she is not really human, but a creature from the line of Angels who mated with human women.

I also truly love how we get to hear both points of view from both characters--Ember AND Sawyer. It truly gives the story more depth and a wonderful insight into each of their flaws, weaknesses and strengths-- and understanding why they do the things they do.   You'll even fall in love with some of the side characters. They too have snuggled into my psyche.

So now, after speeding through both books...I simply must-have more! I really am going to have a hard time waiting for the next book. Please, hurry with the next installment Temptation (Wings of War Book 3) Karen Ann Hopkins!!!

To pass the time I've put together a Spotify playlist for Embers

Compilation of the angel quotes ;

Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.” Revelation 10:8

Then another angel came out of the temple, which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. Revelation 14:17

“Raphael holds one of the highest angelic stations. He represents providence, repentance and prayer.

So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. Revelation 14:19

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete. Revelation 15:1

Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. Revelation 16:8

Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain. Revelation 16:10

Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. Revelation 16:12

Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Revelation 16:17

Then one of the seven angels, who had the seven bowls, came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters.” Revelation 17:1

But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.” Revelation 17:7

After these things, I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. Revelation 18:1

More about these books:

Embers (Wings of War Book 1)

There are descendants of angels walking among us. Ember is one of them.

Embers is an epic paranormal adventure/romance about an eighteen year old girl who discovers that she's immune to fire and any other injury when she’s in a horrific car crash that kills her parents. Following a violent episode with her aunt's boyfriend, Ember flees Ohio to live with an old relative in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Ember's exuberance at escaping a bad home life soon turns to trepidation when she learns that she's a Watcher, a descendant of angels.

While Ember is instructed about her heritage and the powers that go along with it, she strikes up friendships with two teenagers who live inside of a frightening walled compound in the forest. Inexplicably drawn to one of the young men in particular, an impossible romance develops. But it’s cut short when Ember discovers that her new friends are fighting on the opposite side of a war that's been raging between two factions of Watchers for thousands of years. When the compound’s inhabitants threaten the townspeople, Ember takes action, sealing her fate in the ancient battle of good versus evil, and the grayness in between.

Kirkus Reviews: “An impending apocalypse provides a compelling backdrop for romance in this page-turning first installment of a new YA series. Hopkins expertly weaves her plotlines together in this compulsively readable teen romance story…Hopkins delivers many successful elements of young-adult romance—appealing lead characters, high-voltage chemistry, repressed sexuality—which will win her ardent followers. A paranormal YA tale that’s highly recommended for fans of the Twilight series; move over, Bella and Edward, there’s a new set of kids on the block.”

GAIA (Wings of War Book 2)

Gaia (Wings of War Book 2)

Watchers and Angels are at war. Which side will Ember choose?

Humankind is on the precipice of the apocalypse.

As the Demons grow bolder and the walls between the planes of existence weaken, Ember is forced to develop her powers as quickly as possible, and she seeks out a powerful earth Watcher to continue her supernatural lessons. Her glimpse of the future demands she fight the dark forces spreading across the earth.

But her new mentor has his own agenda, making her question everyone and everything she ever trusted.

When Ember is thrust into the world of the Watchers, she learns of their plans—ones that defy the scripture and make them enemies of the Celestial Host. Ridding the world of evil gets complicated when it becomes impossible to take sides.

As Ember struggles with morality, she soon discovers that there’s something more frightening than anything she’s faced before.

LOVE this review:

Gaia was an explosive read full of action and suspense. This is the second book in the Wings of War series and Mrs. Hopkins does NOT disappoint. Her writing style is pure joy with just the right amount of detail that this plays out as a movie would in your head. We are taken along on a wonderful escape I can honestly say everything I’ve read written by Mrs. Hopkins is awesome-sauce! Paranormal world watch out this is sure to become a favorite in this genre. All of the feels were there from the very beginning to the very intense end!

The Story, wow talk about starting off with a bang! Ember is thrust into chaos right away. After learning what is to come Ember decides to prepare as best and as fast as she can. With her friends by her side the threat of the world ending doesn’t seem so scary. Ember is forced to make several difficult decisions but she has to follow her heart and it is telling her to stay the course. Having just a bit of guidance Ember must follow her heart. Through despair and loss she finds the strength within to do what is just. We are taken once again on an epic adventure of sorts while on the edge of our seats waiting to see what happens next. I’m not sure how this can have a happy ending with so many opposing forces but if anyone can do it it’s Mrs. Hopkins. I can’t WAIT to see how everything continues in the next installment.

The Characters, as I mentioned before Ember is a strong confident lead. She does not hesitate when it comes to protecting her friends or her loved ones. He strength shows with every move she makes and everything she represents. Sawyer loves her and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. My heart breaks for these two because I don’t see a way that they can be together. I will say the focus of this installment was strengthening Ember’s faith in herself. Although she learned at a great price I knew the power was within her the whole time. There was a great tragedy that shocked me and provided an enormous twist I just hope Ember finds a way through the pain. Who knows what’s next but I certainly can’t wait to find out!! I had my doubts about many of the new characters and I can’t wait to see where we go from this point.

The End, ba da boom ba da bing! BINGO BANGO!! Talk about CRAZY! Mrs. Hopkins does a marvelous job of not only starting this read with thrilling excitement she uses that very same element to bring it to a close! Is it a cliff hanger ending not per say but it is very much…OH MY Word…Did that just happen? Wow so many questions were answered and yes she has set up the next installment very nicely. This is unlike any other read that has to do with angels, I don’t know how it will end but my heart has high hopes. All of the YA elements are covered and our very amazing lead character overcomes obstacles and impresses left and right. I am highly anticipating the next and what will happen when the show down of all show downs take place!! Eeeeeeeeep!

Praise for Embers, the first book in the Wings of War series: "An impending apocalypse provides a compelling backdrop for romance in this page-turning first installment of a new YA series...Hopkins delivers many successful elements of young-adult romance—appealing lead characters, high-voltage chemistry, repressed sexuality—which will win her ardent followers.” -Kirkus Reviews

“Embers is the start of an action-packed paranormal YA series. Ms. Hopkins draws the reader immediately in with her richly drawn prologue that introduces the lurking evil in a breath-taking manner. a must read for YA, paranormal, fantasy and suspense fans. Make that a delight for any reader!" Ind'Tale Magazine

fighting for Florida's most precious resource

Have you ever dove into a spring so clear blue and refreshing that it changed everything you ever thought you knew about natural springs?

This photo was snapped looking over the edge, standing on the diving platform at Blue Springs March 2015

There is nothing like it in the world; the exhilaration and delightful feeling of jumping into 72 degree clear cerulean springs on a hot summer’s day in the sacred spaces of Florida’s hidden treasures. I’ve never felt such pure euphoria and connection to my surroundings as those times swimming in the natural Florida springs. There is nature at its purest form gurgling out from below, tickling your toes and daring you to dive into its depths to witness the primordial bubbles still pumping volumes of our most precious resource on Earth. From the first time and after each subsequent visit to our state’s liquid gems I am left in complete awe of nature at its finest.

Check out the slideshow of some of my photos from Blue Springs here;

I recently visited  a string of natural springs that blew my mind, and I don't put that out there lightly.

In the past my comrades and I  have not only visited, but camped and canoed or kayaked many of our state's most beautiful springs. It's like a natural cure for anything that might ail you.

To protect this amazing gem I won't be listing the exact location of this spring, but for those of you who have seen this precious sapphire sparkling in the wouldn't forget it - ever.

Read about this place, and the vital importance of saving our springs in this poignant article and beautiful slideshow on here.

We tend to gravitate to the places that resonate with us the most, and when it comes to tourism, we can't help it, we end up visiting many of the same places over and over again.  Now, more than ever we need to be aware of our 'footprints'. They could be annihilating the very things we hold so dear.

Florida boasts many of the world best beaches, but we also have a little secret....there are more natural springs in Florida than anywhere else in the states .

Archangels To Call Upon For Help With Releasing Fearful Thoughts & Emotions

Here’s what the angels have to say: “You have a sacred mission to spread love and light. Yet, this doesn’t happen when you are in a state of tension and worry…. rather, when you are in a state of joy and lightheartedness. Why would you feel tension and worry unless you felt that somehow you were unsafe?
And how could you be unsafe when you’ve called upon the powerful protection of all of heaven? Surrender these fears to God and Goddess, dearest one! Trust that you are supported, loved, and guided each moment…. trust that the same power that brought you to your spiritual path will also take care of everything else for you…after all, this power supports all the planets in the sky…it will surely support you perfectly too.”

Archangel Michael - whose name means “He Who is Like God”

Archangel Michael is a leader among archangels. His chief role is to escort away the lower energies of fear. He’s in charge of the order of angels known as “the Virtues”.
Archangel Michael guides and directs us with our life purpose and career path. He is usually seen carrying a sword which he uses to release us from fear and he is a very powerful protector. If you feel vulnerable, anxious, unsafe or afraid call on him to be your bodyguard and help you to release your fear and worry.
Also call on him to give you courage. When he’s around you may see sparkles or flashes of bright blue or purple light….also note that Archangel Michael is a fiery energy so you may also feel flashes of heat.

Archangel Jophiel - whose name means “Beauty of God”

Archangel Jophiel is the archangel of art and beauty. She helps us both metaphysically and physically. First she helps us think beautiful thoughts; to see and appreciate the beauty around us; and to, therefore, create, manifest, and attract more beauty into our lives.
After all, beautiful thoughts lead to beautiful outcomes. In the physical world she also helps with creative and artistic projects and illuminates our creative spark. Archangel Jophiel also helps us create beauty at home and work and in our relationships and helps us experience more grace and peace in our lives by slowing down to smell the roses and noticing the beauty that already surrounds us.
She says: “Worry never helped anything so why turn to it in time of need? It won’t nurture or heal you, quite the opposite actually. It’s so much better to put the effort into something creative as a way to quietly meditate through positive action. Create, create, create! In this way you mirror God’s own creativity.”
Call on Archangel Jophiel to help shift any negative thoughts of worry or fear to thinking positive beautiful and peaceful thoughts and to see the beauty and grace in the truth of your situation.

Archangel Uriel - whose name means “Light of God” or “Fire of God”

Archangel Uriel is the most radiant archangel because he illuminates situations and gives us knowledge and understanding of why things are the way they are. He helps us trust in the plan God/Goddess has designed for us so that when things appear to be going wrong, we know that everything is in Divine order.
Archangel Uriel is also considered as one of the wisest archangels. He has been credited with bringing knowledge of the Qaballa and the knowledge and practice of alchemy…the ability to turn base metal into precious metal, as well as the ability to manifest from thin air to humankind.
You can call upon him for intellectual information, practical solutions, and creative insight. Ask him to give you additional answers, insights, information and perspectives about something so you can make informed decisions. His personality isn’t quite as distinctive as Archangel Michael’s.
You may not even realize that he has come to help until you notice a brilliant new idea that’s entered your mind. He’s known for his ability to enlighten our minds with Divine inspiration. Pay attention to thoughts and ideas that come to you, as they’re answered prayers.
He’s also considered the “psychologist angel” because he helps heal toxins from our thoughts and emotions. He is especially good with releasing stubborn anger and unforgiveness. His healing is very subtle and graceful and he gently heals our thoughts and emotions so that we are not overwhelmed by the transformation and healing process.
I hope this angel information can help to bring you peace of mind and heart during these interesting times. Just remember the angels help is as simple as just asking and the help you receive is so powerful and effective. Don’t go through life the hard way when help is all around you.
What the angels want you to remember though is that they operate on the law of non interference so they cannot step in to help you unless you specifically ask them to with the exception of protecting you from a life endangering situation that is happening before your exit time has arrived. That would take away our free will and our power as creators of our own life experience. But they are there the moment you ask for help to lovingly provide it.
Other things that can also support your feelings of peace of mind and security are to go on a news and TV fast for a few days….the news is mostly fear based information that only adds to feelings of fear and worry…also start listening to soothing music and music with words that are supportive and uplifting.
Another thing you can do is clear the clutter and mess in your workspace and home. Clutter and mess emanate the vibrations of chaos and disorder and can be very disturbing to your energy field. Clearing your personal environment from clutter and mess can help you to feel that your world is in order and can actually help with your feelings of security and peace of mind.

Another really quick way to start feeling more peace and calming is through using essential oils.
Essential oils are able to reach deep into the recesses of our brains, cross over the chemical barriers, and open the hidden channels within our minds and bodies. Essential oils fragrances pass on to the limbic system of the brain without being registered by the cerebral cortex.
Within the limbic system resides the regulatory mechanism of the innermost core of our being. Here is the seat of our sexuality, the impulse of attraction and aversion, our motivation and our moods, our memory and creativity, as well as our autonomic nervous system.
Because the limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance, essential oils can have some very profound physiological and psychological effects.
Also present in the limbic system of the brain is a gland called the amygdala. In 1989 it was discovered that the amygdala plays a major role in the storing and releasing of emotional trauma. The only way to stimulate this gland is with fragrance or the sense of smell. So now, with Aromatherapy and essential oils, we are able access the amygdala to release emotional trauma.

Even chlorine and salt water could cause hair to be dry or damaged, or worse yet...hereditary causes, which are hopeless to deal with unless you have a cure. Well, never fear, we have a remedy here! Read on to see how easily the war on dry frizzy hair can be won with a few simple tricks.

Once a week, use this fail safe method of re-moisturizing your mangy mane with this fabulous fix-it for the frizzies;
Mix together 1 tablespoon of molasses or honey, 1 teaspoon jojoba oil, 1 teaspoon safflower oil, 1 teaspoon olive oil (or avocado oil), 1 egg yolk, and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Then add 4 drops each of sandalwood, geranium and neroli essential oils. You can substitute any essential oil that works for your hair type. See list below. These e.o.s strong scents even help the with vinegar smell! Make sure it's stirred well, and apply it to your hair and massage it into the scalp. Cover with a shower cap or wrap in a towel and leave on for as long as you want, but at the very least, for 15 minutes. Many times I'll apply this in the morning, do my housecleaning, and then take a shower to shampoo and rinse it all out. Rinse your hair by adding 3 to 5 drops of your chosen essential oil to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 3 cups warm water. Always try to cleanse the scalp and rinse hair for the last two or three minutes in cold water, this ensures your hair cuticles can close properly.

Make sure to choose products that are not too heavy with humectants as they will only make the humidity-induced frizz worse. Pick shampoos and conditioners that contain  natural humectants like  John Frieda Frizz Ease.  Humectants have magnet like properties that attract moisture, buy shampoos if possible that contain ingredients such as; beeswax, plant triglycerides such as coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, shea butter, hydrogenated castor oil, and shea butter. Don't forget that it is possible to reduce damage to your hair by just putting a hat on if you'll be in the sun, or a swimming cap before going for a swim. And when choosing hair products, look for one with a sunscreen so your hair will be protected from the harmful UV rays, especially if you use chemicals on your hair.

One of the best possible choices would be to make your own shampoo, or use liquid castile soap which is a very mild cleanser and it doesn't contain any harsh chemicals. Just add twice the amount of hot chamomile tea or herbal infusion of your choice plus of a few drops of the essential oils best suited to your type of hair. Example: 1 cup hot chamomile tea cooled to almost room temp., 1/2 cup liquid castile soap, 3 drops rose e.o. , 3 drops sandalwood e.o. and 3 drops of carrot, sage, geranium, neroli or clary sage e.o.s. It's your choice as they all work great. See list below for best essential oils to use for dry hair.

When choosing a conditioner, or a treatment conditioner, make sure they contain  wheat, rice or corn proteins as they help repair the damaged cuticles, improve elasticity, porosity, and general health of your hair. Best would be to choose an all natural unscented conditioner and add the specific type of essential oil or oils that would work best for you. I've found that the best essential oils for dry, frizzy or damaged hair are rose, sandalwood, neroli, geranium, clary sage, sage, roman chamomile, or carrot seed. See full list below for more choices. You could make your own conditioner by using mayonnaise, avocado, jojoba, egg yolk and a few drops of e.o.s. Leave on for 10-15 min. and rinse well with cool water. Beautiful, soft and silky hair will be yours!

Best Over-All Hair Serum

This recipe is the best overall serum for hair as it covers the greatest range of problems that people normally have with their hair - from thin, dry fly-away hair, oily greasy hair that mockingly re-appear only hours after being washed, dandruff that doesn't want to leave you or a simple un-satisfaction with the quality of your hair in general. You could use this as a treatment serum or add a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner to give your hair extra bounce and a boost.

  • 4 oz. jojoba oil - find on Amazon.
  • 5 dps rosemary e.o.
  • 5 dps bay e.o.
  • 5 dps cedarwood e.o.
  • 5 dps patchouli e.o.
  • 4 dps cypress e.o.
  • 5 dps ylang ylang e.o.

Mix well and store in a dark glass jar or PET container (PET is a special kind of plastic that won't break down when essential oils are contained within)
To use; Pour a little into a cup (about a teaspoon) and dip your fingers into the oil, and gently massage the entire scalp. It is normally best to start massaging at your neck, working upwards and over the entire scalp until you finish off at your temples. Ensure that the entire scalp is treated.
When done correctly your hair will not be oily, and you will be able to go to sleep like this after waiting 30 minutes. If you feel you need to wash your hair after treatment make sure to wait at least 45 min. and use a very mild shampoo (like the one discussed above or a baby shampoo) and work a little of the treatment oil into your scalp before wetting it.
If you don't feel like making a serum, get one that works well, like; Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Relaxing Balm, or Living Proof's No Frizz Styling Treatment.
